PIXELROOM / RESIZE
A precise fit, without the guesswork.
Dimensions describe the space an image occupies. Enter a width and height in pixels, choose a percentage of the original, or start from a purpose preset.
Four ways to fit
| Mode | What happens |
|---|---|
| Fit | The entire image fits inside the box. The output can be smaller than one of the requested sides. |
| Fill | The box is filled edge to edge. Extra content is cropped symmetrically. |
| Contain | The entire image is placed inside an exact canvas, with padding. |
| Stretch | The dimensions are used independently. This changes proportions. |
Preserve proportions
Link width and height to keep the proportion of the current crop and rotation. To deliberately change shape, unlock the dimensions. Percentage shortcuts always refer to original source dimensions.
Upscaling protection
Prevent image upscaling is on by default. Fit will not enlarge the image; fill and stretch may return smaller dimensions. Contain can create a larger canvas while keeping the image at its original size. Disable this option when exact larger output is more important than softness.
Crop before resizing
Use the crop box to choose the content that matters. Square, 4:5, 9:16, 16:9 and 3:2 ratios make framing repeatable. Pixelroom applies crop, then rotation and flips, then resizing, adjustments and watermarking.
Document and ID images
The 35 × 45 mm and 2 × 2 inch presets use pixel equivalents at 300 ppi. They do not set guaranteed print DPI metadata or certify a photo. Background, face position, dimensions and file-size rules vary. Use a custom preset to match the receiving authority’s published instructions.
