PIXELROOM / TARGET-SIZE COMPRESSION

Meet the limit. Keep what matters.

A form asks for 100 KB. Your image is bigger. Pixelroom helps you find an output that fits while showing what changed.

A target is a ceiling

Enter 20, 50, 100, 200, 500 KB or a custom maximum. Pixelroom uses decimal units: 1 KB = 1,000 bytes. It first tests the chosen dimensions and maximum quality. For lossy formats, it searches lower quality. If needed, it reduces dimensions and tries again.

It reports the actual encoded size, final dimensions and whether the target was met. It favors higher dimensions and useful quality over matching a byte count. No padding is added to make an “exact” size.

When the target cannot be met

Every format has overhead. Very small limits can be impossible. The search is bounded and returns the smallest tested result if nothing fits. You will see Target not met, never a silent success. Raising the target or changing the format often helps.

Inspect before you submit

Use Compare and zoom to inspect fine text, faces and edges. A smaller file is useful only if it still meets your purpose. Government and examination portals may impose more than a file-size rule.
